A Little About Kayy Finn
Kayy worked as an educator in NYC for ten years- first as a Special Education teacher, followed by School Counselor and Mental Health Advocate and Educational Leader. Every position she has held in academia has helped her gain the knowledge necessary to continue on in the mission of helping the mental, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of our youth through lenses of equity and multiculturalism. All children have a right to be seen and feel heard, as well as to be given the unique tools necessary to reach their highest potential. Therefore, parents have the right to also obtain the information and assistance needed to help their children build those foundational blocks towards success.
Art has been Kayy’s personal therapeutic way of coping with life’s ups and downs since as long as she can remember. As a little girl drawing her beanie babies under her bunk bed when feeling overwhelmed, to the creation of strawberryzskies.com during the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020- finding beauty in the simple every day moments has always been one of Kayy’s special skill. She tries her best to remind others through her art that no matter the day, the sun always sets and makes way for a new tomorrow. Time keeps moving forward and the rollercoaster ride of life does eventually go back up.
Kayy utilizes her skills from working in various environments to help foster healthy children’s interactions in social settings as well as offering parents and families assistance in educational planning and functional behavioral assessment and behavior modification options for across settings (i.e. at home versus at school). Targeted literary, craft and music driven counseling activities as well as mindful meditation techniques are all offered as classes with age appropriate objectives to assist in meeting milestones in interactive and exciting ways at The Parents Lounge of Malverne. What started as monthly framed print collections on strawberryzskies.com has since developed into a carefully curated product line of high end quality items that are ethically sourced and created with sustainability and eco-friendly manufacturing in mind. Silk scarves, silk pillows, cotton sweatshirts, wooden postcards, wooden puzzles and more have all landed in homes across the world in the last three years with portions of proceeds having helped funding eight learning projects on DonorsChoose.org. Through life’s obstacles, Kayy has learned that success can not always be measured through life’s typical “accomplishments”. For her, success is most often felt in the moments where she is helping others realize their worth and learning how to shine their light bright on this world.
Kayy absolutely loves connecting with others and is happy to answer any inquiries on her art, photography or educational consulting! Reach out via email at strawberryzskies@gmail.com and she will always do her best to respond in 5-7 business days!
